Since 2011, the founder of Meier’s Artisan Cheese, Dan Meier is one of the few left in North America that uses the milk from his own herd of cows to hand make his cheese. Originally from Switzerland, Dan learned his craft through summer’s spent in the Swiss Alps with his brothers as a young boy, where they spent their days making cheese by hand. He emigrated to North America in 1990 with his young family with the hope of beginning a new life, and to share his knowledge and passion for cheese within North America.
